You would think there would be very few phthalates in the living room and office, but inf act, phthalates are used in no-skid backings on rugs and carpets and in the upholstery on couches and armchairs. While many companies — including Sony, Ikea, Nike, Herman Miller, Shaw Carpets, Interface, Samsung, and Panasonic — are committed to phasing out phthalates, much work remains to be done to completely eradicate these toxins from our households.
